This year's MET costume institution exhibition theme represented the American Woman: Fashioning a national identity. The exhibition will be held from 5th May 2010 to 15th August 2010. It showcases fashion of American Women from the 1890-1940 and what their influence is today in modern fashion. As usual the exhibition opened with the big MET gala 0n May 3 with Oprah Winfrey, Anna Wintour and Patrick Robinson (GAP) as hosts. The Model as Muse: Embodying fashion is the theme of this year's spring 2009 exhibition organized by the Costume Institute Gala of the Metropolitan Museum of Art in NYC. Gala benefit with the stars included Marc Jacobs serving as the honorary chair and co-chairs, Kate Moss, Justin Timberlake and Anna Wintour. The annual fundraising event always attracts some of today's most famous celebrities, showing off an overdrive of fashion and couture.
